Traditional Portuguese supremacy in cork manufacture- is now challenged in global markets by an Indian competitor-Cortica Manufacturing (India) Pvt.Ltd.

Since 1978,the company has been manufacturing Cork sheets, Rubberised Cork sheet, Cork joints and components.

Quality in manufacture has been the key input – with the latest process and techniques for curing and formulation being adopted.

Cortica has also been exposed to meeting international specifications through its supplies to clients in the Transformer and Automobile Industries as these industries insist on standards set by their foreign collaborators.

Sankar Sealing Systems Pvt. Ltd,. has recently taken over Cortica Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. The takeover of Cortica is expected to give a fillip to Sankar's export endeavour. Cortica, is giving Portugal makers of cork a good run for their money. Infact, both have been celebrating in the past to make some exclusive products, primarily for the Tata range of vehicles.

A share transfer agreement has been inked with Cortica Manufacturing India, one of the India'slargest manufacturers of cork products, to acquire the latter's factory.
